Saint-Louis en fit l\u2019un de ses lieux de vill\u00e9giature favoris et c\u2019est alors que Vincennes devint la r\u00e9sidence royale principale. La construction du ch\u00e2teau d\u00e9buta sous le r\u00e8gne de Philippe Auguste.<\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Au XIVe si\u00e8cle furent \u00e9rig\u00e9s une enceinte, des tours et un donjon : du haut de ses 50 m\u00e8tres, elle est la plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e des fortifications m\u00e9di\u00e9vales d\u2019Europe subsistant de nos jours ! La Sainte-Chapelle fut b\u00e2tie \u00e0 la m\u00eame p\u00e9riode, sur la demande de Charles V. Situ\u00e9e dans l\u2019enceinte m\u00eame du ch\u00e2teau, elle abrite les reliques de la Passion du Christ. Le donjon devint une prison d\u2019Etat au XVe si\u00e8cle et des personnages c\u00e9l\u00e8bres y furent d\u00e9tenus : Diderot, le Marquis de Sade, Mirabeau et bien d\u2019autres encore !<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">En 1682, la cour royale quitta Vincennes et fit de Versailles sa nouvelle r\u00e9sidence royale. D\u00e9laiss\u00e9, le ch\u00e2teau change de visage \u00e0 plusieurs reprises au XVIIIe si\u00e8cle pour devenir successivement manufacture de porcelaine, de fa\u00efence, avant d\u2019\u00eatre converti en arsenal mais aussi en boulangerie !
