Yasmine El Meleegy (b. 1988, Cairo) is a conceptual and performance artist. Her work investigates structures of labor, gender, and care within Egyptian society. She often collaborates with communities, using text, video, and performance to reveal hidden emotional economies behind daily routines.

Working across sculpture, installation … she engages with personal and collective memory, using replication, traditional craft, and mass production as tools to disrupt inherited histories and cultural legacies. She explores how repair and reuse become metaphors for cultural continuity and disruption.

El Meleegy represents the future-oriented continuity of heritage — restoration, reinterpretation, transformation. Her work may sit in the zone where past and present converge and where new imaginaries open. She literalizes the idea of “history still in motion”.
