An Historic Institution
Discover the Monnaie de Paris
Founded in 864 AD, the Monnaie de Paris is officially the world’s oldest continuously operating institution. While its primary mission is minting France’s euro coins, it is far more than just a factory—it is a masterpiece of history, art, and craftsmanship located in the heart of Paris.
Housed in a stunning Neo-classical building on the banks of the Seine, the Hôtel de la Monnaie offers one of the most beautiful views of the Louvre and the Pont Neuf.
Today, the institution is a vibrant cultural hub, hosting contemporary art exhibitions and the Michelin-starred restaurant of chef Guy Savoy.
A prestigious neighborhood
The building sits directly on the banks of the Seine. Just steps away, you’ll find the iconic bouquinistes (open-air booksellers) lining the river with their green metal boxes.
Right next door is the majestic Institut de France, recognizable by its golden dome, which houses the Académie Française.
Within a 10-minute walk, you can reach the Louvre Museum, the Latin Quarter, and the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
